Configuring Websites & Subdomains

Adding Websites

To add a website to your account, simply click the Add Property button from the Properties dashboard, which can be found by going to Settings > Properties from the left hand menu. You will be presented with the option of adding a website or app. Select Desktop/Mobile Website before adding the domain in the text box (see below) and then clicking Continue.

Upon clicking Continue, you will be presented with the following screen where you can configure the property settings.

Please note: Upon adding a new property, this will generate a new tracking code which will be different to the other properties within your account. To switch between properties, simply click the Properties drop-down from the top right hand corner of the app. See Selecting Your Property for more details.

Adding Sub-domains

To add a sub-domain to an account, simply click the Add button under domains, as shown in the image above. This can be accessed when creating a new property, or alternatively can be added to an existing property by clicking the Edit icon next to the relevant property in the Properties dashboard. Once happy, click Save Property.

You can also remove sub-domains by clicking the Delete icon next to the relevant domain.

Please note: Sub-domains will require the same tracking code as the top level domain that they have been added to. Any sessions that cross between any domains and sub-domains on the same tracking code will be treated as the same session, with the Session Replay replicating this.

Collection Sample Rate

If sampling is enabled on your account, this can be edited at any time under Collection Sample Rate inside Property Settings, which can be found by going to Settings > Properties and clicking the Edit icon next to the relevant property that you want to configure sampling for. Once happy, click Save Property.

The Collection Sample Rate controls the number of visitor sessions that are selected for tracking by Decibel Insight. A Collection Sample Rate of 50%, for example, would track every second visitor to the website, while a sample rate of 0.1% would track one out of every 1000 visitors.

Collection Limit

Your subscription will include a limit on the number of page-views that may be collected and retained on a monthly basis. If this limit is less than the total volume of traffic received by your website, it is important to configure the sample rates to ensure that this allowance is not completely used before the end of the month.

Where multiple properties are configured in an account, it is also possible to set upper limits on the number of pageviews that will be collected and retained by an individual property, to ensure that it doesn’t consume the total allowance for the account.

This can be edited at any time under Collection Limit inside Property Settings, which can be found by going to Settings > Properties and clicking the Edit icon next to the relevant property that you want to configure a limit for. Ticking the unlimited checkbox will mean that data is collected from this property until you reach the monthly pageview limit of the account. Once happy, click Save Property.
